The Animal Care Foundation, FIDUCIA (Trust) was founded in 2000. Its purpose is to help abandoned stray dogs, in Reghin and Reghin's area, by Miss Maier Lidia, founder and leader of the pound, who saved the life of hundreds of dogs with her self-sacrificing work and magnanimous love for animals.
Our humble pound gives home to 100-120 dogs, provides them food, veterinary attendance, but most importantly surrounds them with love and care. We feed dogs, give them medication if necessary and also get them spayed according to our possibilities. Every single animal stays with us until we find an owner for them or until they pass away. Euthanasia is permitted only as an ultimate solution.
Miss Lidia's own words: "For years I have fed and took care of the needy dogs on the streets, parking lots and in my home. I have realized that I need a place where I can do all this work without anyone telling me what to do. After the opening of the pound the number of dogs started to grow. Usually people have an indifferent attitude in this matter, they care only about themselves, BUT the very few who support me, do it with practical help and 100% devotion. Though my strength lessened I hope God listens to my prayers and will help me to carry on with this work."
Briefly about us:
- The Animal Care Foundation, “FIDUCIA” (Trust) was founded on 12th February 2000.
- the 6000 m2 field was bought in 2001
- in 2002 and 2003, the necessary timber was gathered
- since 2002 the Brigitte Bardot Foundation supplies dry food every four months
- in 2003 the enclosure of the pound with the help of a volunteer firm
- since 2003 we have an employee, who feeds the dogs and takes care of them
- in 2006 we have signed a contract with Reghin’s city hall, according to which they engaged themselves to contribute to the food supply, to cover occasional transport costs and to finance firewood cutting.
